Okay so seriously, why did you choose Pathfinder 2e? Why not D&D 5th or *adjusts glasses* D&D 3.5?

For starters I've gotten invested in PF2e with rulebooks and purchased some scenarios and stuff. And I like PF2e's design approach. Things seem better balanced overall, it's hard to make an ineffective character, and things are way more modular to build more interesting characters.

And, in general in life, I tend to prefer the runner up, the silver or bronze medalist in most cases. They don't usually have the same deep pockets and marketing as the well-entrenched "leader", so they tend to have some cool approaches and strategies that keep them in the running.

Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast, who owns Dungeons & Dragons. Hasbro kinda spent the early half of 2023 antagonizing their player base, and then also created a legal quagmire for the countless businesses that create or use their product. Hasbro was greedy and didn't read the room with their customer base. Don't be like Hasbro, bro.

Paizo is a separate company who makes the Pathfinder RPG. Pathfinder's 1st edition has genetic ties to former D&D editions, but over time and especially now with 2e is fully it's own thing. While not perfect, Paizo tends to listen to it's player base, rather than simply telling their players what to enjoy. The aforementioned legal quagmire from Hasbro spurred Paizo to begin work on a game license that is meant to be used openly and half by a 3rd party law firm. They also took the chance to begin a major rules remaster, starting in 2023 and 2024! This isn't an edition update or altering any underlying structures. It is mostly a deep-cut errata correcting the balance of a lot of things and re-packaging material in a different way in a new run of books. (Think of it as edition 2.1, if even that.)

So, this is one heck of a time to join and play - lots of excitement on the horizon!
