The Virtual Tabletop (VTT)

It will be our main avenue for playing the game. Luckily there are systems in place to help manage a lot of the maps, tokens, character sheets, rules interactions, and so forth. In order to make it all work together for us to play, I have set up some web-based VTTs for us.

The Forge

The Forge is where our virtual tables are hosted online. All the adventure materials will be stored here on their network drives.

  • You'll need to create an account at The Forge (it's free!), then I can connect up with you there.

Think of The Forge as the house you've been invited to. When you arrive, you find other nerds with all the rulebooks strewn about, painted minis on every shelf, and the empty boxes of pizza from a long night of geekery.

The Foundry

Foundry VTT is the virtual tabletop where we play. The Foundry VTT will be able to pull from the Forge's storage, so things won't get broken if I spill ice cream on my computer.

Foundry has excellent integration with the Pathfinder system and will help keep track of applying effects and pulling up rule snippets. AND! AND! Foundry lets me do cool stuff I couldn't do in person - there's line-of-sight, lighting effects, background music, sound effect, weather effects, lots of possibilities for cool immersion-y stuff.

Think of it as the dining room table we are all hunched over as acne-having teens, drinking mountain dew, and snickering over why the katana is the superior blade.

Connecting the two

Once you have a Forge account, I can pass you an invitation link to the Foundry games I have set up. From there you'll be able to access the Foundry games from their URL, select your name, and away you go.

Think of the invitation link as you ringing the doorbell and me showing you inside to the dining room where we'll play the game.
