Infodump:Why do I infodump
From The Wild Tangents
You'll get a wall of text :)
I'll be sitting and waiting for a response :):)
Best to get it out in the open, let it speak for itself, and then by all means follow up if you have questions. Sounds reasonable right?
For each page that needs one I'll include a link to it's related Infodump page. That way you can strap yourselves in to take a deep dive into my ramblings.
Infodumps will also probably contain useful information or examples, maybe will contain common pitfalls and other things to consider.
A semi-quick aside about the fuck I'm talking about: Mediawiki has the ability to make pages about your pages.
- In this example you have a beans page, an article with a description of bean varieties, how to cook them, how to grow them, etc.
- By default, mediawiki assumes you'll have a talk:beans page.
- The "Talk" namespace is usually best left to editor's notes about what the article needs (sections to expanded, research needed, etc.)
- so talk:beans would be notes reminding me to update the section on pinto beans and to find a picture of bean soup.
- I decided to play with the mediawiki structure itself and set up a custom namespace for Infodumps!
- infodump:beans would be a deep dive into bean lore, and maybe some personal anecdotes about beans.
