Infodump:Expense Details
From The Wild Tangents
Well, it's an awkward topic to dance around so I'll be full frontal with it here. I am self-funding it all for now, and want it to be a guilt-free experience for all I invite along.
Expenses[edit | edit source]
Pathfinder Rulebooks, PFS Scenarios, the Foundry License, and Forge hosting aren't free, and there's a Patreon subscription or two in the mix. Plus, there's the opportunity costs of my time spent on prep.
All things considered though, I enjoy doing it. It is a fairly inexpensive hobby over time compared to other hobbies I could easily get lost in. Costs go down especially if I can run a scenario more than once and stuff.
I will expand some operations and resources as time / money / family commitments / burnout allows.
I could probably find some cheaper / free / piratey ways of pulling it all together, but its extra work to sort out. I am fortunate enough to afford the conveniences out of pocket. I also probably wouldn't have gotten this far with it had I had to do a lot more heavy lifting from scratch.
Income[edit | edit source]
I will never ask for money as part of being a playing member or spectator of the Wild Tangents.
I will also not deliberately direct anyone to this page. Any discussion of money or funding should be discussed freely - openness and clarity is paramount! However, I leave this outside of my hands.
If friends want to voluntarily kick in a few dollars here or there for it: I will welcome it openly without deflection (I won't do the whole "oh, no I couldn't possibly!" martyrism business. LOL no, I will gladly accept the support and say a genuine thank you). All that said, I do not want people to feel pressured or guilted into donating, nor will there be any incentives or in-game rewards to "encourage" donations.
I will defer to wisdom I've learned in 12-step groups: there is a suggested donation of [to be determined] and any donation, or none, is acceptable. Newcomers need not contribute.
